Privacy Policy
Last updated July 8, 2026
Day Marker is built on a simple principle: your habit data belongs to you, and only you. This policy explains what that means in practice, for both the free app and the optional Pro tier.
Two ways to use Day Marker
Day Marker has two tiers, and this policy applies differently depending on which one you use:
- Free. No account, no sign-up, no cloud backend. Everything stays on your device.
- Pro. An optional paid upgrade that requires an account so features like cloud sync, widgets, advanced analytics, custom themes, habit templates, and export/import can work across your devices. Using Pro means some of your data is processed on our servers, as described below.
If you never create a Pro account, the sections below about accounts, cloud sync, and payments simply don't apply to you.
Information we collect
What we collect depends entirely on how you use the app.
On the free tier
We collect nothing. There is no account system, no email collection, and no password to manage. You can use the full free feature set the moment you install the app.
On the Pro tier
- Account information. An email address (or the identifier from your chosen sign-in provider) so we can authenticate you and associate your synced data with your account.
- Synced habit data. If you enable cloud sync, the same habit data that would otherwise stay local — habit names, icons, colors, schedules, completion history, streaks, statistics, and awards — is stored on our servers so it can follow you across devices.
- Subscription/purchase status. A record that you hold an active Pro entitlement, provided to us by Apple's App Store or Google Play. We do not receive or store your full payment card details — see In-app purchases and subscriptions below.
How we use your information
- To authenticate you and keep your Pro account secure.
- To sync your habit data across your devices.
- To verify and maintain your Pro entitlement.
- To respond to support requests you send us.
- To maintain, secure, and improve the app.
We do not use your habit data for advertising, and we do not sell your data to anyone.
Your data stays on your device — or your account, if you choose Pro
On the free tier, all of your habits, streaks, completion history, statistics, and awards are stored locally on your device using Hive, a local on-device database. Day Marker has no cloud backend for free-tier users, and this data is never transmitted to, or stored on, our servers or any third party's servers.
If you upgrade to Pro and turn on cloud sync, that same category of data is also stored on our servers, encrypted in transit and at rest, so it can be restored on a new device or kept consistent across several. Only Pro accounts with sync enabled are affected — turning sync off, or staying on the free tier, keeps your data local-only.
In-app purchases and subscriptions
Pro is purchased through Apple's App Store or Google Play Billing, as applicable to your device. All payment processing — including your card details, billing address, and transaction history — is handled directly by Apple or Google under their own privacy policies. iDevia never sees or stores your full payment information.
We only receive a purchase or subscription status token from the platform, which we use to confirm your Pro entitlement. Refunds, billing disputes, and cancellations are governed by Apple's and Google's respective policies.
Data sharing and third parties
We do not sell your personal or habit data. We share Pro account data only with:
- Cloud infrastructure and authentication providers who store and process data on our behalf, under confidentiality obligations, solely to operate the sync feature.
- Apple and Google, for purchase and subscription verification.
- Law enforcement or regulators, only where required by applicable law.
Data retention and deletion
Free-tier data lives only on your device — see Uninstalling the app below.
Pro account data and synced habit data are retained for as long as your account is active. You can request deletion of your account and all associated cloud data at any time from within the app or by emailing us at the address below; we'll process deletion requests promptly. If you downgrade from Pro back to the free tier, your synced data is retained for a limited period in case you resubscribe, then permanently deleted.
Your choices and rights
- Use the free tier indefinitely and never create an account or share any data with us.
- Export your habit data at any time using the export feature.
- Request access to, correction of, or deletion of your Pro account data by contacting us.
- Turn cloud sync off, or downgrade from Pro to the free tier, at any time.
Children's privacy
Day Marker is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has created a Pro account or provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
International users
If you use Pro, your account and synced habit data may be processed and stored in countries other than your own. Where that happens, we rely on our service providers to apply appropriate safeguards to protect your data consistent with this policy.
Notifications
If you turn on reminders for a habit, Day Marker uses your device's local notification system to alert you. These reminders are scheduled and delivered entirely on-device — no notification content is sent through an external server, on either tier.
Uninstalling the app
Because free-tier data is stored locally, uninstalling Day Marker removes it from your device. We strongly recommend exporting or backing up anything you want to keep before uninstalling. If you have a Pro account with cloud sync enabled, your synced data remains in your account and is restored automatically when you reinstall and sign back in, subject to the retention terms above.
Changes to this policy
If Day Marker's data practices change in a future update — including at launch of the Pro tier described above — this page and the in-app Privacy Policy will be updated to reflect that, and the "last updated" date above will change accordingly.
